12th January 2015 - This, that and the otherMonday 12th January 2015 Plan A this morning was to head off towards Aigle, near Montreux to do some more required lines in that area but we couldn’t face the 7:32 to Geneva which would be crammed with commuters this morning, or the long trek there and back again so decided to go and have a play on some Re4/4s interspersed with some more class 450 fishing. The day started well, with another 450 garnered from Hardbrücke but we then went on to “Plan C” when 11133 on the 7:05 to Stuttgart was deemed to be of more interest that 421.371 on the 7:16 to München. We were tempted to go to Singen, where the Re4/4 would come off the train, but as that was in Germany it would mean having to buy a ticket to and from Schaffhausen not to mention that there were no hauled trains back from Singen for two hours after we would arrive there. 11133 at Zürich HB12th January 2015. IC284 7:05 Zürich HB to Stuttgart Hbf From Schaffhausen we decided to catch a unit across to Winterthur on a line that we had only done once or twice previously and see if we could pick up any required class 450s there (no!); however we did manage to get one at Zürich Stadelhofen. Having gone round in a circle and now back at Zürich, 421.394 was next on the menu on the 9:16 to Münich which we took to St. Gallen where our intended snap of the metre gauge Trogenerbahn unit leaving the Appenzellerbahn station and heading off down the street didn’t quite work as intended due to a family group walking right in front of us at the last minute. 35 at St. Gallen12th January 2015. Be 4/8 35 leaves St. Gallen on an S21 service, 4094 10:32 St. Gallen to Trogen. 421.371 was on the EC back to Zürich, which was one reason that we ignored it this morning and this arrived there nicely in time for the 12:09 to Locarno which was 11304 today. It did cross our minds to go all the way to Locarno but we settled for Göschenen in the end where the working in the opposite direction was worked by 11112 and we got a shot of a triple-headed southbound freight though the view off the end of the platform isn’t the best one in the world. 11341 at Göschenen12th January 2015. Three Re4/4s on a southbound freight, the others are 11335 and 11345. Once back in Zürich there was a choice of taking two Re4/4s, one to Chur where we would just about have time for dinner before getting the same loco back or up the Gotthard again with the same set of stock but a different loco. However, is was coming up to 24 hours before our flight home and we could do with checking in on-line to ensure getting two seats together so it was off to Western Union where 2CHF for 15 minutes internet and two sheets of paper saw us bag two seats in the central exit row. That little job done we had a mosey round an electrical shop then had a further search for class 450s, managing to bag another three in 90 minutes so it was off to the Zeughauskeller to celebrate reducing the number of required 450s to single figures and our final night in Switzerland.
