12th September 2013 - Homeward boundThursday 12th September 2013 Wait, we haven’t quite finished yet as we still needed to get back home but today was mostly spent on the move so not much to report. Not wanting to risk missing the plane, we caught the 7:05 ICE, worked by the appropriately named Hansestadt Stralsund, in preference to the later IC train and the fairly early start coupled with the warm coach soon sent us both into the land of nod therefore missing Anklam harbour but yesterday’s loco (232 079) was noted parked at Angermünde. 232 079 at Anklam11th September 2013. Berlin was reached without any fuss so there were a couple of hours to kill during which we went fishing for some new locos, particularly class 182s on the RE1 services which are now the only hauled local services along the Stadtbahn apart from one odd RB14 service which produced a required class 143. The eighth and final class 182 we viewed finally added to the total of new locos before it was off to Berlin Zoo station and the X9 bus to Tegel airport (€2.60 single fare, bought in DB machine whilst festering on platform and validated in bus) to bring an end to another action-packed trip. 182 014 at Berlin Hbf12th September 2013.
